I think about the days spent at my Amá’s house in Mexico — endless Mexican candy, spicy chips, pan dulce, mangos — and every now and then, if we happened to be visiting her on the perfect day, we’d get fresh buñuelos. The days have been cloudy and rainy lately, which makes me want to snuggle up with a coffee and read a book. This kind of weather also puts me in the baking mood because it’s not too hot. Have you ever baked when it’s hot and then when you’re done baking, the heat doesn’t even make you crave what you baked? That’s me.
We all need inspiration. Initially, I began baking based on my cravings. This is what motivated me to whip up some recipes to share with everyone. But when you’re cravings are always chocolate ones, it can be a problem. I didn’t want to bore the gluten-free bakers out there with only chocolate-based recipes, so I took a little trip to the library and checked out some baking books that would hopefully inspire me.
