Gilmore Girls Readathon

Gilmore Girls and books simply go together. And a Gilmore Girls themed readathon is the most wonderful thing that could ever happen in a bookworm’s life.

I’ve never participated in a readathon before, but just this past week or so, Liv’s Library posted a YouTube video announcing a Gilmore Girls readathon, and there was no question about whether or not I would be participating in this. The readathon is hosted by Olivia from Liv’s Library, Pastel Pages, and Mackenzie Lane. It will be running from October 1st through October 15th with 7 challenges:

• A book with a school setting: in honor of Yale & Chilton

• A mother/daughter relationship book: in honor of our favorite mother/daughter relationship ever.

• Any cozy book set during fall/winter: in honor of beautiful Stars Hollow & Lorelai smelling snow.

• A book with complicated love interests: in honor of Rory, Dean & Jess.

• A book by an Asian author or has Asian representation: in honor of our favorite best friend, Lane.

• The next book in a series you haven’t finished yet: in honor of A Year in The Life.

• A book with food on the cover or is a crucial part of the storyline: in honor of Luke’s Cafe.

I’m so excited about this challenge! After careful thought and consideration, I’ve come up with a booklist that follow the above 7 challenges, respectively:

• Rotherweird by Andrew Caldecott

• The Paris Wife by Paula McLain

• The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest by Stieg Larsson

• Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert

Goodreads Synopsis: Around the time Elizabeth Gilbert turned thirty, she went through an early-onslaught midlife crisis. She had everything an educated, ambitious American woman was supposed to want — a husband, a house, a successful career. But instead of feeling happy and fulfilled, she was consumed with panic, grief, and confusion. Not sure if I’ll be able to read all of these books in 15 days (probably not), but it will be fun keeping up with everyone’s TBR and progress!
